SINGAPORE: Singaporeans will be treated to a touch of history spanning over 5,000 years through the Dead Sea Scrolls and The Ancient World exhibition at The Arts House.
More than 100 artefacts will be featured in the exhibition — a first in Asia.
The exhibition includes four fragments of the Dead Sea Scrolls, the oldest—known Hebrew manuscripts of the bible.
Also on display is the Lunar Bible, so called because it is the first bible to be taken to the moon.
Visitors will also be treated to one of the earliest forms of written expression via clay cuneiform tablets.
They can also view the names of Polish Jews who survived the Nazi occupation through a Holocaust Survivor Scroll.
The Dead Sea Scrolls and The Ancient World exhibition opens Thursday and will run till September 20.

How to convert believers
Just had another impactful sermon today
A lot of us are wondering how do we convince non-believers to become a believer ? Sometimes reality is so simple we get stunned.
All we need is to ask 2 questions :

- Do you know that Jesus loves you ?
- Do you want to accept Jesus' love for you ?

Meeting up with Ms Ponytail
Been trying to arrange a meeting with her for quite a long time as she is perpetually busy but today is my lucky day I guess. =)
We met up somewhere between our workplace since its not too far off with just 1 bus ride away. I don't think I should be calling her ms ponytail anymore since she has ditched the schoolgirl hairstyle in favour of curls which I think also suits her current image of a office girl more.
I had dumpling noodles at the food centre near harborfront bus interchange which I think is pretty good, worth coming back again.
Signing off with a classic song - Smoke Gets in Your Eyes

where got ghost ?
caught the movie where got ghost ? today. I was a little disappointed since it was only partially funny at times and not scary for most of the time.
maybe its because i cannot understand hokkien so did not really catch some of the jokes they were mentioning.
But i think the first story is pretty bizzare yet amazing with this idea of combining telemarketing with temple donations and 4D.
23 winning combinations and with each winner contributing 20% of their winnings to them, its a sure win situation for them since they r giving all 10 000 numbers to people and surely some of them will strike.

Need more Sleep
Been working for a week but feel sleepy everyday while at work. I can only blame myself for sleeping too late and too little so the sleep deficit builds up until the weekends.
Even during the weekend I sleep even later hence not helping the situation.
But from today I will ensure I get at least 8 hrs of sleep so that I will not become a zombie the next day and have enough energy to carry out the day's activities.
End off here with a song from 911 - Party People Friday Night

Celtic 0 - 2 Arsenal
Fortune favours Gunners
William Gallas (43)
Gary Caldwell (og 71)
A deflection and an own goal helped Arsenal overcome Celtic in Glasgow to leave the Gunners with one foot in the Champions League group stages.
Arsenal took the lead two minutes before the break when William Gallas inadvertently diverted a Cesc Fabregas free-kick past Artur Boruc, and Gary Caldwell put through his own net in the 71st minute.
Only Barcelona and Dinamo Moscow, in the previous round, had beaten Celtic in the previous 36 European matches at Parkhead.
But Arsene Wenger's side enjoyed a comfortable second half to leave them in a commanding position ahead of next week's play-off second leg.
Barcelona have also lost at Celtic Park during that run, along with the likes of Juventus, AC Milan and Manchester United, but Celtic failed to put their latest visitors under serious pressure.
Although both sides had enjoyed comfortable away wins in their opening league wins on Saturday, Celtic manager Tony Mowbray opted for radical alterations to his frontline while Arsenal were unchanged following their 6-1 win at Everton.

Arsenal is off to a flying start ! I wonder if they will be able to maintain their consistency til the end of the season. Thomas Vermaelen seems like a good buy.

Heart of Greed on Ch 8
Currently airing on ch 8 at 9pm every weekdays.
Great plot with excellent cast including Linda Chung whom I personally love ( Chang Zai Xin ).
Its really funny when da Bao and xiao Bao ( Tang Ren Jia and Tang Zhi An ) hatches some whacky idea and when it succeeds, they start laughing super loudly "heh heh heh heh" and shake their shoulders pointing their index finger while doing so.

Up, Up and Away !
Went to catch the movie UP.
its in 3D and costs $13 for weekend so if you haven't caught the show watch it on a weekday its only 10 dollars =)
this movie reminds us about the dreams and big goals we have a child but somehow they become forgotten or put aside due to other commitments in life.
therefore we should think about what we really want to achieve in life before they become hidden under a pile of everyday routine like work and become forgotten.
that aside, we can continue to plan bigger goals when we have achieved the first one so that we lead a purposeful and meaningful life.
the weird part about this movie is that in the beginning the old man walks v slowly with a walking stick but towards the end he comes a SUPER AGILE jacky chan once he enters South America where is trying to fulfill his wife's dream. I guess that's why its an animated movie. Anything goes.

Singapore's Nationwide Next Generation National Broadband Network Deployment On Track
The Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) today announced the successful achievement of the Contractual and Financial Close (CFC) by OpenNet, Singapore's Next Generation National Broadband Network (Next Gen NBN) Network Company (NetCo). OpenNet has been issued a Facilities-Based Operator Licence for it to commence the roll out of the Next Gen NBN 1.
As part of OpenNet's CFC, IDA has also approved its implementation plan of the Asset Company (AssetCo) which will be established as a business trust within 24 months of OpenNet's CFC. The AssetCo, as proposed by OpenNet in its NetCo Request-for-Proposal (RFP) submission, will own and control the relevant underlying passive infrastructure assets that are used to support OpenNet's deployment. These underlying assets, which include central offices, ducts and manholes, will be transferred from SingTel to AssetCo. By leveraging existing underlying assets, OpenNet will be able to achieve a speedy deployment with minimal disruption when civil works begin later this year.
SingTel will be required to reduce its unit holdings in the AssetCo to less than 25 per cent within 60 months of OpenNet's CFC, subject to SingTel obtaining relevant approvals. The management and operations of AssetCo will be undertaken by a neutral Trustee-Manager, which will
be an FBO licensee.
IDA today also signed the Next Gen NBN Operating Company (OpCo) contract with Nucleus Connect. As the OpCo of the Next Gen NBN, Nucleus Connect will be working with OpenNet, on a joint roll out plan towards achieving 60 per cent coverage of all residential premises and non-residential buildings by end 2010, and 95 per cent of all residential premises and non-residential buildings by 2012.

Stella Ng insists she's not broke
Singer-actress Stella Ng recently celebrated the second anniversary of her chocolate cake shop, BLACK As Chocolate. She confirmed that she is engaged in a lawsuit with Awfully Chocolate and proceedings are currently being held in the Singapore courts. The singer refuted the bankruptcy reports and clarified that it was an unfair image portrayed by the company.
After Ng created her own cake label, BLACK As Chocolate, in 2007, she was sued by Awfully Chocolate for her violation of rights in both Taiwan and Singapore. The company demanded a compensation sum of S$280,000 on terms of breaking her contract with them. Her hesitations and refusal to pay up the compensation sum has led the high courts to declare her a bankrupt.
She expressed that conflicting views and opinions caused her to give up her franchise of the Awfully Chocolate cake shop and pointed out that she had won both court cases in Taiwan. Ng believes that her previous older bank statements were produced by the company as evidence in the Singapore courts and was an unfair representation of her current financial status. "The court case is still ongoing! How can I be bankrupt?"
BLACK As Chocolate sells an average of 15,000 cakes a month. To ride on her cake shop's booming success, Ng created a second label, BLACK DESIGNS, to cater specially designed and created cakes for wedding couples and celebrities.

the Spirit of God
Wisdom and ( can't remember )
These are what we need to understand the spirit of God. To look upon what is above and make it our goal to win souls so that when we get to Heaven we will not be empty handed and lived our lives in vain.
Our physical self lives in this world hence some may be lost or even become too focussed on the things of the world but if we just keep the faith, we will be able to draw our eyes to what is the ultimate goal and not on earthly temporal riches or wealth.
There was a story that goes once upon a time a man died and went to Heaven. St Peter was at the gates of Heaven to welcome the man.
The man brought 2 bags of stuff with him as he approached the gates of Heaven. Peter asked him," What's in the bags that you have brought ?"
The man replied, "This is gold ! All my life I have been working so hard to achieve these 2 bags of gold. "
Peter : " Hey dude, gold is used to pave the roads in Heaven. 2 bags of gold isn't worth much here. "
This story tells us that what we see as important might not be really important in the end. Vice versa, what we neglect around us may ultimately be very important in the end.
